WOW where did it go?

The summer is gone and now we are finishing our second week of Kate being in 1st grade. Our summer was so eventful. We made our first stop in LA to see Laura and Sean and my cousin Tom. After a fun weekend with them we headed to San Diego to say goodbye to Jim. He is on a 3 month deployment on the USS Nimitz. He has gone to Hawaii, Japan and has a couple more places to go before he makes comes home to us in early October.
Once we said goodbye to Jim we headed to Phoenix, AZ. We spent the next month swimming in the desert sun. The girls loved spending so much time with Grandma and Grandpa Platt and their Aunt Amanda. As it got closer to school starting again we left my parents and made a stop in Las Vegas for some time with Grandma Brennan.
We loved being so busy and Kate kept saying she didn't want to go home yet. But life brought us back home so we could get settled before Kate started school.
Coming home was wonderful! The kids were so happy the played all day our first day home with all the toys they forgot they had. Kate has been keeping the Tooth Fairy very busy too. She lost 2 teeth over the summer for a grand totally loss of 6 teeth.
Kate loves school (hope it lasts)!! She has two teachers and a classroom of 32 students. Her teachers are energetic and have a great sense of humor. The teachers have challenged the kids to read as much as they can to earn a private lunch in the room with the teachers. Kate is determined to be the first to earn this exciting reward. She is keeping her goal by bugging me to no end to read books. Good thing we love to read! She reads the site words in the books and I read the others. Some books she knows well enough to semi guess and semi sound out the rest.
Addison is loving the days to herself. We come home from dropping Kate at the bus stop and she has freedom to play with any toy any were without having to compete. Her favorite pass time is out in the backyard in the sandbox or on the swings. She is such an independent little kid. She takes great care of her dolls and stuffed animals. She puts them to bed and tucks them under the blankets then closes the door. She comes and informs me that her baby is sleeping. Addy love to draw. She shocked me the other day by drawing a smiley face by herself.
So that about catches us up for now.
